I was always a picky eater. Growing up, I was never particularly interested in trying new or healthy foods. But I knew that I needed to make a change if I wanted to lose weight and get healthy. A few months ago, I decided to dedicate myself to eating healthier and losing weight.
The hardest part of this whole process has been learning how to eat healthy when I’m eating with others. It can be difficult to stay on track when you’re surrounded by unhealthy choices. I’ve had to learn how to be assertive and make sure that I’m getting the right foods.
The first thing I did was to commit to eating smaller portions when I’m out with friends. I’ve found that this helps me to stay within my calorie range and still enjoy the meal. I also try to focus on the foods I order – making sure that I’m selecting healthy options. I’ll typically choose a lean protein, some vegetables, and a small salad. This helps me to get the nutrients I need without overindulging.
I also make sure to keep myself hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps me to feel full and keeps me from overindulging. I’ll often order a glass of water before my meal so that I don’t get tempted by sugary drinks.
Eating with others can also be a great opportunity to experiment with new, healthy recipes. I’ve started to look for recipes that are easy to make, healthy, and delicious. This helps me to find new recipes that I enjoy and that I can share with my friends.
Finally, I make sure to stay active. Even if I’m eating with others, I try to make time for physical activity. I’ll often take a walk after dinner, or go to the gym the next day. This helps me to stay energized and to ensure that I’m burning off any extra calories that I may have consumed.
Learning how to eat healthy when I’m eating with others has been a challenge, but it’s one that I’m committed to. I’ve found that by making smarter choices, staying hydrated, experimenting with new recipes, and staying active, I can stay on track with my weight loss goals.
